free premium memberships

Could we have free premium memberships on here?

Post 2 by the black devil (Newborn Zoner) on Thursday, 13-Nov-2008 19:09:22

I don't think that is going to work because the zone and the people who created it would loose money. The people get money when people buy premiums. If this was a free webbsite then it wouldn''t be as good as it is now. All good things in life are not free unless you are filthy rich.

Post 3 by Darth Vader (Luke, I am your father.) on Thursday, 13-Nov-2008 19:12:34

yeah you've got a point erik

Post 4 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Thursday, 13-Nov-2008 20:51:38

What the hell is your problem? Maybe if you beg one of your friends to buy you one you will get one. But the whole point of premium memberships are to help the site make money so they can stay in business.

Post 5 by PorkInCider (Wind assisted.) on Thursday, 13-Nov-2008 20:58:31

Can you please try and wait for your brain to work before typing next time? if that means never typing, all the better for the rest of us, but this displays what an absolute asshole you really are.

Post 6 by Gilman Gal (A billy Gilman fan forever and always!!) on Thursday, 13-Nov-2008 21:02:04

the money we pay out goes for the server Etc. the zone would not be as cool as it is now, there would not be as much stuff on the site if it was all free, now would there?

Post 7 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Friday, 14-Nov-2008 0:44:39

Um, free premium memberships? Are you actually serious? After the way everyone reacted to your last post, I'm surprised you even asked this question. At first I thought you might be kidding, or just trying to stir the pot to get under people's skin, because you already should know what most people are going to say. I'm still not convinced that isn't what you're doing. Whether you're serious or not, you're crazy.

Post 8 by Big Pawed Bear (letting his paws be his guide.) on Friday, 14-Nov-2008 2:35:12

free premium memberships? have you ever come across a premium anything where you don't have to make some kind of contribution? you are so stupid darth vader! sorry, but your constant wish to have everything free is getting on my nerves. the internet is not fre you know.

Post 9 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Friday, 14-Nov-2008 3:59:49

i'm getting pretty sick of this, the word "premium" means you have to pay for it. quit complaining and start realising that you are not going to get it!

seriously!

Post 10 by Click_Clash (No Average Angel) on Friday, 14-Nov-2008 12:19:51

Okay Vader, I didn't realize you were only 15. Kid, you've got a lot to learn. You can't expect everything in life to be free, and the whole point of *premium* is that you pay for extra services.

Becky

Post 11 by CrazedMidget (Sweet fantacy's really do come in small packages!) on Friday, 14-Nov-2008 13:34:34

rofl to kev's post. Yeah, free memberships, like that will ever happen. There called premium for a reason.

Post 12 by bluestar (captain ) on Saturday, 15-Nov-2008 17:56:58

well I don't totalyagree with this... maybe if andihavenoidea how this could bedone butif somehow our points could have a money value like say 1 point was worth 25 cence or some thing. thenmaybe we could us our points to get a payed membership. that wayitnot relly be free and it besomthing that we have to earn since we have to earn a nuffpoints to get it

Post 13 by Click_Clash (No Average Angel) on Saturday, 15-Nov-2008 18:49:36

Okay, but the money for the points still has to come from somewhere.

And by the way, that post was so poorly written that it was almost not understandable. This is a different rant entirely, but all of us adults need to write like adults.

premium memberships separate the cool people from the ghetto, uncool people. jkjk. vader you are a piss arse wank stain! do I make myself very very very very clear! do I!
grow up little boy. go suckle on mommy's tit and maybe she might deam you to have done a good enough job and buy you a premium membership. or, save up your quarter a week allowance and maybe in, um, a very far distant date in the future, you'll have enough to buy it yourself.

Post 15 by illumination (Darkness is history.) on Sunday, 16-Nov-2008 16:16:14

Darth, I have to tell you this, and please don't be offended. $25 is really not that much, and nobody should complain about having to pay for a premium membership. Although it would be cool to have one, the people who are running this site need to make money. As mean as this may sound, please don't post anything else about things coming free, because it just won't happen. We really need it, especially these days, because we're in a financial crisis.

Post 16 by Rune Knight (Ancient Demon - Darkness will always conquer Light!) on Sunday, 16-Nov-2008 16:31:57

I didn't know $25 was that hard to come up with these days... guess I was wrong. LMFAO!

Post 17 by andrew1989 (Account disabled) on Monday, 17-Nov-2008 15:03:39

lol shark!
In response, well, basically what everyone else said, premium is called premium for a reason. i do have to say though that some of the restrictions on standard members are a bit extreme, like not being able to create private conferences. hell, you can call any number of free conferences bridges and have even more control over your conference than you do on the zone. But 25 dollars really isn't all that difficult to come up with, in fact i'm thinking myself about buying a premium just so that I don't ahve to sit heree all day to win the pionts that a premium could win in 5 minutes. Oh yeah, and about points. 25 cents a point? Are you crazy? That would mean that by your system, standard members would start out with 500 points, which is 125 dollars. Yeah, right! Think of someone who had, say, 4 million points. 1 million dollars. Dream on!
Oh and as for the internet not being free, his mother probably pays for it, or better yet, he jsut hacks into his neightbour's wireless. I think his keyboard needs a new space bar, too. But maybe he just substituted his f9 key for a space bar rather than taking 15 bucks and buying a used keyboard. he probably cracked windows, jaws, and any other software he has on his computer. I wonder if he even paid for the box. Then again, I got funding for my laptop, so i can't really say anything where buying a computer is concerned.

Post 18 by andrew1989 (Account disabled) on Monday, 17-Nov-2008 15:05:02

this school keyboard is crap!

Post 19 by Click_Clash (No Average Angel) on Monday, 17-Nov-2008 19:22:31

You also can't say anything where writing correctly is concerned. I believe I counted 7 errors in your two posts combined.

He's 15, so yes, common sense would dictate that his mother probably does pay for his Internet. I think Joe has gotten the message, so rather than make yourself look even more like a jackass by continuing to bully him, why don't you grow up, proofread, and stop throwing stones, as you clearly live in a glass house.

Post 20 by Roxanne W (Generic Zoner) on Tuesday, 18-Nov-2008 12:44:00

I totally agree with the poster above. He asked a simple question and you all felt you had to drag him through the mud. I am not a priemium member and if that makes me uncool, big deal, I'm uncool then. Some of you grown people should do more than live your life here on the zone and get outside and do something productive. Ok, now for a suggestion for Darth vater, next time you get some cash, just go ahead and purchase a membership and since Christmas is coming up, maybe ask for a membership.

Post 21 by illumination (Darkness is history.) on Tuesday, 18-Nov-2008 13:43:07

Totally agree with posts 19 and 20. For post 14, remember, he's only 15; he's not as old as you are. No wonder why he's so annoyed at you; it's because of those immature comments that you made. The boards are for making suggestions, not for making stupid comments like that.

Post 22 by shark (the zone's favorite, Canadian Great White) on Tuesday, 18-Nov-2008 14:25:26

you think I give a fuck if he's annoyed with me or not? if you said yes, then obviously you don't know me. The boards are for stating your opinion. I think you'll find in that post, if you read it again, I not only stated my opinion, but also bashed him. so you see, I killed 2 birds with 1 stone, as it were. if you need me to clarify further, in case you're opporating on half a brain sell by some means of unfortunate circumstance, I shall do so. my opinion is that he's a piss arse wank stain, and I did bash him by saying he should go suckle on his mommy's tit etc. there. hopefully I have made myself very, very very very clear! now hopefully! lol
But I shall say this, by way of an addendum to my previous post. When I was 15, if the zone had been around back then, I would have been fully aware of why it was that for some services, they would find it warranted to charge a fee. I also would have been happy with what I was able to do for free, as some sites even charge you fees to access them! so being 15 is no excuse in my opinion, as to whhy he shouldn't understand that somethings in life do not come free.

Post 24 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Wednesday, 19-Nov-2008 0:50:35

Roxanne and others, I don't think it's that premium members have anything against standard ones. Being a standard member does not make you "uncool." It's when you're not willing to pay for premium membership, but still want all the same features for free, that everyone gets annoyed.

Post 25 by shark (the zone's favorite, Canadian Great White) on Wednesday, 19-Nov-2008 18:00:59

sister dawn, that's rather a more diplomatic way of saying what I've said all along. so thanks for that.

Post 26 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Wednesday, 19-Nov-2008 18:54:30

You're welcome, but your posts are so amusing, Shark. Dont' stop making them. *Grin*

Post 27 by bozmagic (The rottie's your best friend if you want him/her to be, lol.) on Thursday, 20-Nov-2008 7:20:38

I'm afraid everybody has a point Darth. If you have free premium memberships on here, well, you might as well dispense with all the games, boards, phone system and everything and you'd be left with quicknotes. What a boring place The Zone would be then, eh?

No no, Premium everything costs money. That's just the way life is, all the features of The Zone cost money, that's just the way life is. We have to live with that and part with $25.00 (roughly £12.50 GBP) every so often so we can enjoy the extra features provided for those of us willing to pull our fingers out and give as well as take from The Zone every year or so (with the acception of premium membership offers like mine, where you can buy one for two years, $6 discount.

well then, fuck premiums!

Well then, fuck you. You must be one of those annoying blind people who thinks life should be handed to you on a silver platter just because you're blind. Oh poor me. I'm blind so shouldn't ever have to pay for anything.

Post 31 by shark (the zone's favorite, Canadian Great White) on Tuesday, 18-Aug-2009 12:32:36

Lol I was kinda glad to see this board revived again. I even had a laugh at my own posts back then. However, I still stand by everything I said. I'm premium until june of next year. It also seems that most newby zoners who have joined recently purchase premium, which is great.
The only suggestion I have is that how about if you buy 2 years of premium, instead of saving $6, you save $10? So you could get the second year at half price and only pay $40 for 2 years instead of $44. . I don't think this would hurt the pocket books too much, especially because from what I've seen, and as I noted above, lots of people are buying premiums these days. And doesn't that sale only come once a year anyway? Just a suggestion, if they still want to save us $6, I'm still cool with that. I guess I've watched too much monty hall's let's make a deal. lol

Post 32 by shark (the zone's favorite, Canadian Great White) on Tuesday, 18-Aug-2009 12:43:09

Oops? Reading my own post, I saw that my math was off a bit. lol. I knew there was a reason I should have used my calculater! Ah well, I still think $40 instead of $44 is a better savings. lol

Post 33 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Tuesday, 18-Aug-2009 13:36:28

Yeah. No offense, Joseph, but I have to agree with most of the posts on here. Some of them are a bit extreme, especially since you weren't rude with your question, but that question would be like asking if you could have $25 just because. I'm pretty sure most people would say no. When you become premium, you'll understand why $25 is actually a pretty good deal.

Post 34 by Big Pawed Bear (letting his paws be his guide.) on Tuesday, 18-Aug-2009 13:59:01

yeah, i like premium membership. indeed, might invest in this site a bit more.

Post 35 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Tuesday, 18-Aug-2009 14:12:31

Exactly, and investing in a premium membership is also showing support for the site.

Post 36 by shark (the zone's favorite, Canadian Great White) on Tuesday, 18-Aug-2009 14:24:12

Well that's what it's all about. Investing in something we all enjoy.

Post 37 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Tuesday, 18-Aug-2009 14:31:46

Yeah. The only suggestion I could possibly make is that I think there should be an option for how long the membership should last. For example, $5 for one month premium access, $25 for a year, $50 for two years, and so on. (I'm not saying those should be the actual prices either.) That way, if someone wanted to try being premium, but wasn't totally sure if he or she would like it, then it could sort of be like a 30 day trial without actually having free access.

Post 38 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Tuesday, 18-Aug-2009 23:53:00

He wasn't rude? Read the post above my last post. I responded with "fuck you" simply because he said "fuck premium. He started this topic, let it disappear, and then brought it back just to say fuck premium, and the idiot posted it twice.

Post 39 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Wednesday, 19-Aug-2009 10:25:55

rotfl darth. you've got guts.

good idea about the length of premium, i like it

Post 40 by Darth Vader (Luke, I am your father.) on Wednesday, 19-Aug-2009 14:17:44

hmm. I'd agree, accept the admins are pretty firm with the price from what I can tell.

Post 41 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Saturday, 22-Aug-2009 9:37:37

Well, that's why this board is here, to make new suggestions.

Post 42 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Saturday, 22-Aug-2009 9:45:34

And LibraLady, I didn't say he wasn't rude with his poast. I just said he wasn't rude with his original question.

Post 43 by illumination (Darkness is history.) on Saturday, 14-Nov-2009 12:55:25

And this board topic is being revived again. And I will say this, the comment you made that said, "Fuck premiums" was an absolutely retarded remark. In fact, I can't believe you would say things like that, especially for a sight offering a premium membership at such a cheap price. Grow up, dude.

Post 44 by CrystalSapphire (Uzuri uongo ndani) on Friday, 20-Nov-2009 9:55:31

oi grow up

Post 45 by illumination (Darkness is history.) on Saturday, 21-Nov-2009 9:55:14

Most things aren't goig to come free to you in life, so get used to it.
